December Newsletter
Just in! Zoom Meet-ups + International Shipping + Freebie 🎄
Happy December!
Wow, this is the final Monthly Newsletter of 2022. If you have received all of them, thank you so much for being here and supporting my art!
If you are new, I’m so happy you’ve joined all of us in this space! I have a once-a-month newsletter with updates, and I write a weekly newsletter for artists/creatives. You’re welcome to adjust your settings to receive one or both of the newsletters.
I am really excited to continue growing alongside all of you in the new year, and I have lots of plans for this newsletter!
What I have for you this month:
Holiday Cards, Gift Tags, and Stickers
Who are you grateful for this holiday season? Send them to a card to let them know! Who are you giving gifts to? Would they appreciate a handwritten note, too?
You also might need some Thank You notes after the holidays!
Thank you for shopping small! In case you missed the cyber weekend sale, use code NEWSLETTER10 for 10% off your order.
DIY Sticker Cards
I had so much fun seeing this product in action! The 3.5 year old in the photos below spent 45 minutes coloring and adding stickers to these cards. But I also maintain that the DIY Sticker Cards are fun for adults, because I had a blast making the sample in this video.
International Shipping!! 🚚 🚚 🚚
I was offered the opportunity to test international shipping through my shipping platform. If you live outside of the United States, I’m super happy to offer you shipping now! Just add items to your cart, and check out as normal.
Giveaway
I teamed up again with Michella Hand! She writes a blog to support small businesses, and she kindly featured my business in May. She’s hosting a “12 Days of Christmas Giveaway,” and I will be giving away DIY Sticker Cards on Instagram on December 10, so make sure you’re following me for a chance to win!
Sketchbook Zoom Sessions
For those of you subscribed to the Weekly Artists Newsletters - I’ve been brainstorming how to build community here. Thanks to your answers in the polls, it looks like a recurring Zoom meet-up might work. SubStack has a new Chat feature, so keep an eye out for a chat message from me about the sketchbook session!
Freebie
As always, thanks for being here and supporting my work! Here’s a cozy phone background for you.
Updates on the past month:
Folktale Week
Folktale Week is a very popular 7 day art challenge on Instagram. I highly recommend scrolling through all the gorgeous art on the @folktaleweek account!
I researched Italian folktales from Italo Calvino's Le Fiabe Italiane from 1956. Calvino’s goal was to compile Italian folktales in the same way that German folktales were collected by the Brothers Grimm in 1812. Calvino’s 800 pages of folktales have stories from all over Italy. Here are the tales I illustrated:
Commissions
I have two commissions to finish up by Christmas, and then it’s onto January projects! Although wedding season seems months away, now is the time to sign up for custom maps. If you’re thinking of a custom project, sign up now to save your spot. Here’s a family portrait I finished a couple weeks ago and an idea for stationery commissions. What do you think?
Organizing the Studio and Packing Orders
Busy, busy, busy! You all know this is a hectic season. So I revamped the studio space with some giant shelfs to better organize my space. It makes packing your orders much more efficient, so keep ‘em coming! How do you organize your space? I’m always looking for tips.
Pitching my work
I sent off my work again! My portfolio to agents, and my card catalog to stores. I never feel fully ready, and I know I am still growing as an artist. But I might as well submit my work and get feedback from professionals. The worst that happens is I get a rejection, which means I get to keep drawing new pictures :)
Weekly Artist Newsletters:
In case you missed any, here’s what I wrote about in November:
Monthly Pup-date
And finally, your monthly pup-date!
Thanks so much for reading, and I wish you a wonderful winter holiday season!
