It’s the middle of the holiday season… Everything is supposed to be merry and bright, but today we’re going to chat about having your artwork rejected. It’s part of the process.
I know many of you are also looking for representation, so in the spirit of solidarity, I want to share some responses to my submissions— some helpful and some not.
When I started getting serious about art as a career, I was surprised to overhear artists saying that 100 rejections are expected before being offered representation, getting a book deal, landing a licensing gig, etc…
I learned quickly that rejection is to be expected. And it can be celebrated.
