What a brilliant idea for a 100 day project, I love that it’s about connection!

I always liked the idea of aiming for 100 rejections (it may have been a Neil Gaiman idea, I can’t remember) where you celebrate your rejections and aim to collect 100. The side effect is it’s impossible to get to 100 without getting some positive results!

I love that about the side effect of positive results! Someone shared the 100 rejection idea with me at the beginning fo this illustration journey, and I've found it's so valuable to categorize rejection as an expectation. It allows me to reach out to more people without being scared of the result. It's such a great idea to bring that into this conversation, thank you!

Yay! I didn't expect so many people to jump on board, but it's exciting! I'll think about a way to get us all connected so we can motivate each other

Great newsletter! I’m in for the 100 day project. Is today day 1?

Thanks Carla! Good question. I say do what works for you! Today could be Day 1 or start fresh next week, whatever you'd like. Also I'm going to do 2 on Fridays and 2 on Mondays so I don't send emails on the weekends. So honestly however you'd like to organize it, as long as you're reaching out to people :) That's our goal

I love this idea for a project Katie, and I love how you show us that every outreach is personalized, and that doesn’t just mean changing the name!

And it’s even more powerful when you are not asking for something, but rather offering something useful!

PS: can I ask my publisher’s in the US to send books to you to review, I’ll email you about it, consider it DAY 1! I’m definitely in for this project!

Great newsletter, you inspire me!

Thanks Adam! I really appreciate that! And I'm glad you're joining the project :)

I completely agree about "offering something useful." It's so important to treat people like people and remember that they're likely inundated by countless emails daily. For this project, I have different goals for different people/companies. Some communication will be about pitching my work, but other emails will be about connection. I might tag them as such to help myself organize everything

This is a really inspiring idea!! I find reaching out daunting, but like you say - what’s the worst that can happen! Also really good reminder that what you do today impacts what will happen days from now.

Thanks, Kim! Reaching out is still intimidating, especially when it's some one I'd really like to work with. But I figure they won't know I exist if I don't reach out so I might as well!

Thanks! And fingers crossed it will lead to something. If not, seeds are planted for the future :) That's how I'm looking at it!

True!! I was thinking I wanted to say I am in, but I got scared, so I will make my 100 day project on making one thing that scares me every day😅! I’m sure some of them will be reaching out to people ☺️☺️

That's such a great idea! There's going to be so much to reflect on at the end of the 100 days. Keep me posted on it :)
