I like the idea of sketching it out on real size paper! I never thought about that. Sometimes I also take my thumbnail sketches (if they are more detailed) and blow those up with a copier! Then I can trace it onto nice drawing paper if using traditional.

That's a smart idea! It keeps the integrity of your composition from the thumbnail but lets you add more detail. Thanks for sharing :)

Thank you for this! How do you transfer to watercolor paper?

Good question! I asked this question to another artist, Raquel Russo, and she said sometimes she prints it directly on the paper. So I did that here. I've also traced directly from the ipad. (If you look up how to enable Guided Access, that turns your ipad into a light box.) And an actual light box is the next way I'd like to try this!

Thank you so much! I tend to get overwhelmed with all of the amazing ways to do art that it stops my progress…I will have to try this - and I appreciate your help 💛!

This is very similar to mine except I don’t know how to stitch the images together after I’ve scanned them. Do you use an app?

Hi Martine! I overlapped the two drawings and jigsawed it together by hand. An app sounds handy though!

I really like the idea of blowing the rough up to real size! I like sketching by hand but then I usually do the roughs in procreate. But I think I’ll try this, or at least print them out at a bigger size to work on. Otherwise it just stays so abstract when working digitally.
